Butterfly House - Melbourne Zoo
Project Overview
Client: Zoos Victoria
Location: Melbourne Victoria
Completion: 2025
Scope: Mock rock and concrete sculpture teamed up with Bespoke visitor immersion.
Project Summary
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Melbourne Zoo’s beloved Butterfly House, we created a striking new waterfall and stream feature that transforms the space into a lush, living rainforest. The cascading falls are enhanced with ultrasonic fog, drifting gently across the exhibit to create a sense of mystery and atmosphere while maintaining the warm, humid environment butterflies thrive in. A meandering stream flows from one side of the house to the other, guiding visitors through the tropical landscape and offering moments of discovery at every turn. The result is a sensory experience that delights guests of all ages, while enriching the habitat for the thousands of butterflies that call it home.
